The severity of your detox will ultimately depend on the level of Alcohol you have been consuming. If you are a binge drinker, you should know what to expect as you experience a withdraw after every binge. However, if you are a daily drinker you may be in for quite the experience.
The Basics
The most common withdraw symptoms are as follows:
shaking
nausea
diarrhea
profuse sweating
achy joints
inability to hold down food
vomiting
Insomnia
These detox symptoms can vary in intensity depending on your level of alcohol consumption. In some cases the withdraw will be minimal and in other cases it will completely debilitating. In this case a stay at an actual detoxification center with qualified staff will be necessary.
Now it is time give mention to the worst Alcohol detox symptoms of all.
Delirium Tremens
Grand Mal Seizures
These symptoms are common among people who have been drinking on an every day basis for an abnormally extended period of time such as months or years.
Delirium Tremens is typically a series of vividly tormenting hallucinations. This is a part of the psychological detox and will be a challenge for the drinker to overcome without the assistance and comforting care of qualified people.
Grand Mal Seizures are perhaps the most dangerous and most feared symptom of all. Seizures are potentially fatal and should always be treated by a medical professional.
In conclusion, it is my suggestion to enroll in a detox center; however, if this is not possible it is always a safe bet to have at least one person to look after you while you undergo your withdraw. Make sure to have a phone nearby in case an ambulance needs to be called.

So why did I decide to call this article the `Non Smoker`? My decision after hours of thought, on what I wanted to say to help you die hard long term smokers who really want to take on a healthier life. A life without the restraints of what has become one of the worlds most unsociable habits. It was as simple as this.
When you quit smoking……
YOU ARE NOT AN EX SMOKER! YOU ARE A NON SMOKER!!!
So what`s the difference?
The difference is huge! To you who are about to go into the future with a new sense of power over your thoughts and habits, the difference will be this.
The difference between succeeding and failing in this quest. And the fact is this…..
An ex smoker used to smoke!
Well we know that you fool! Maybe you do know that. But every time you refer to yourself as an ex______ (and you can fill in the gap for any habit) you are reminding yourself that `yes you were a smoker!` When you think of an ex girl friend or boy friend what do you picture? Do you picture their face or their body? You might now I`ve mentioned it. No. You will picture the emotional times you had. 9 times out of 10 the old times always seem better than they where.
This is called nostalgia by the way. It`s taking a memory, taking out all the negative memories and keeping all the good stuff. It`s the same with smoking. Being an ex-smoker is a label you put on yourself that gives you a link back to how smoking used to make you feel. Like a calling card. You don`t think of the smell or the control it had over you! You think about how it made you relax. We want to eliminate any positive link back to the fact that you used to smoke, so drop the `ex`!
Quit for good!
All the success

“I am not really that keen on talking about my past but I am doing so in helping others that may like to learn from my example. You will sooner or later get fed up with being called a waste of space or a loser.
I have just recently reached retirement age and have now enjoyed 2 whole years alcohol free. The day I came to my senses was at the Doctors when he came clear with me and told me that it was give up time or time to die. Fortunately it didn’t take me ant tome tome at all to come to the right decision.
I was fortunate enough to have been married before and I have 2 wonderful children, but all that went pear shaped and went for 16 years without seeing my kids. I really feel awful when I think what I missed and the problem is then when alcohol forms part of your life everything else falls by the wayside.
If I remember rightly I was in my mid forties and drinking way too much on a daily basis when my wife warned me what the consequences would be if I didn’t sort my problem out. I really didn’t think she leave me with the children and I just brushed her warnings away by saying I had everything under control. I should have listened to her as that nightmare day dawned upon me.
It’s difficult to put how I felt into words but I was devastated and my condition lead me to drinking more and more just so that I could forget the position I was in. I began to drink so much alcohol that even forgot about my wife and 2 lovely kids.
I was 62 when the magical day arrived that would change my life forever. I was surprised one morning by a knock at the door and even more so when a young man smelling of alcohol told me he was my son. Well I couldn’t believe my ears and it wasn’t long before I realized that this really was my long lost son that I hadn’t laid eyes on in over 16 years.
His real mission was two fold and I was so pleas Read the rest of this entry »
