Effective help with alcohol abuse and dependence is hard to come by, despite large numbers of treatment programs. The problem is that a majority of these programs have grown from a single - and ineffective - male model whose business success has long overridden client needs despite dismal outcomes. Eliminating bad habits, such as smoking, drinking, even gambling, or worse, illegal drugs, is a very difficult thing to do, since the users are already tuned to these disgruntled ways. I think it is especially difficult around the Holidays not to jump in and say but it is Thanksgiving or Christmas or their Birthday. I do not want my child to think I do not love them. It is hard to let go they may die. They are better now. My child did not have the same problems as yours. I abused alcohol when I was young it is my fault.
